A Brief History Of Adam's Bagels
Humble Beginnings
Adam’s is a family-owned-and-operated bakery, restaurant and gourmet shop, located in the heart of Maraval, Trinidad & Tobago.
Built on core values of fresh ingredients, quality products, and friendly personalized customer service, we have developed many long lasting relationships with our customers over the past 18 years.
Our journey began in the late 1980's, a time when Adam was selling ladies garments.
After the 1990 attempted coup in Trinidad & Tobago and a 100% loss due to rampant looting, Adam decided that selling clothes was not the path he wanted to take in life.
His passion for food and a one month sabbatical in New York led him into what has become his reason for living.
Adam later returned to New York for a one month training session, facilitated by an old family friend, Joseph Lettiere, at the well renowned bagel shop Wellwood Bagels in Lindenhurst, New York.
Adam learned to make bagels in the traditional New York style, where bagels are boiled. He brought his knowledge back to Trinidad & Tobago, and began selling bagels at different sales event.
The response was phenomenal and he got calls for orders. Eight months later, Adam’s Bagels was opened for business on 15A Saddle Road, Maraval.
Beyond The Bagel
Although we started out as a bagelry, expansion was on the horizon and we quickly grew into a full bakery.
We introduced a variety of breads, sweet and savory baked goods.
In 1994, the bakery was transformed into a vibrant restaurant that is a huge success to date.
“Adam’s Bagels” transformed into “Adam’s Gourmet, Restaurant and Bakery” over the years, and is dedicated to offering you warm and welcoming service, a vibrant atmosphere, and most importantly, food made with love.
Bagels, around which the business was founded, continue to be a bestseller. We have added newer breads, soups, salads, and sandwiches.
Our shelves are packed with quality imported products and our homemade products such as: chicken salad, hummus, saltfish buljol, pastelles and our “world famous” pepper sauce.
